As China experiences rapid economic growth and population aging, understanding the intricacies of its pension system becomes increasingly crucial. This presentation will explore the structure and function of China’s pension system in supporting its elderly population. By examining the challenges posed by economic development and demographic shifts, there is an urgent need to understand the system’s implications and seek potential solutions.
Liu TIAN is an Assistant Professor at the School of Public Economics and Administration at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Her research interests include social security, health economics, and labor economics. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Syracuse University in the US. Her research has been published in the National Tax Journal, Journal of Comparative Economics, International Journal of Tax and Public Finance, the Journal of Financial Research (Chinese), and other journals.
